Arijit Singh was born on 25th April 1987 at Jiaganj, Murshidabad, West Bengal, to a Punjabi father and a Bengali mother. Now he is 36 years old.


His father was a LIC agent, and his mother, Aditi Singh, (who died of a cerebral stroke on 19 May 2021) was a homemaker. His mother, grandmother, and sister all are very fine singers.


His personal life has seen the union of love and companionship on two occasions. His first marriage was to Ruprekha Banerjee, who gained recognition as one of the finalists in the reality show Fame Gurukul. The bond between Arijit and Ruprekha marked a significant chapter in their lives.


In addition to his vocal training, Arijit also ventured into the realm of percussion, specifically the tabla. He sought guidance from the esteemed Dhirendra Prasad Hazari, dedicating himself to mastering the intricacies of this traditional Indian percussion instrument. Through his diligent practice and mentorship, Arijit developed a strong command over the tabla, adding another dimension to his musical repertoire.

Television career

Arijit took the first big step in his career by participating in the reality show Fame Gurukul (2005). Even though he did not win the show, it helped him good exposure. He then won the reality show 10 Ke 10 Le Gaye Dil, which gave him the head start that he needed for his music career.

Singing Career

In 2005, Arijit Singh’s talent caught the attention of audiences nationwide when he participated in the reality show “Fame Gurukul.” Although he didn’t emerge as the winner, placing 6th in the competition, it marked the beginning of his journey into the world of music and fame. It was during this time that he formed a significant connection with renowned music composer Pritam Chakraborty. The year 2010 proved to be a turning point for Arijit as he started collaborating with Pritam on various projects. This partnership led to Arijit being cast in three films composed by Pritam, namely “Golmaal 3,” “Crook,” and “Action Replay.” These opportunities provided Arijit with a platform to showcase his versatile singing abilities and solidify his presence in the industry.
