KL Rahul’s cricket journey commenced with rigorous practice and participation in under-14 and under-16 levels for the Karnataka team. His first-class cricket debut for Karnataka took place during the 2010–11 seasons. Simultaneously, he represented India at the 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, contributing 143 runs to the competition. In the 2013–14 domestic seasons, Rahul made a notable mark by amassing 1,033 first-class runs, making him the second-highest scorer of that season. His introduction to the Indian Premier League occurred in 2013, playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. A significant highlight came during the 2014–15 Duleep Trophy, where he represented South Zone in the final against Central Zone. Rahul delivered impressive performances, scoring 185 off 233 balls in the first innings and 130 off 152 in the second.

Career

Rahul marked his Test debut during the 2014 Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. In 2006, KL Rahul relocated to Bangalore to refine his cricketing skills. He received his Test cap from MS Dhoni, replacing Rohit Sharma. This shift allowed him to benefit from the mentorship of former Karnataka players like KG Anil and Somashekar Shiraguppi. On his Test debut, he managed to score only 3 and 1. In 2010, KL Rahul was selected to represent India U19 in the 2010 ICC U19 World Cup.
