Career

Kiran embarked on her professional journey as a tennis player in 1964, participating in the national junior lawn tennis championship held at Delhi’s Gymkhana. However, she soon transitioned into the realm of civil services, passing the rigorous examination and joining the Indian Police Service (IPS) while still in the early stages of her teaching career. Notably, Kiran was part of the victorious Indian team that clinched the “Lionel Fonseka Memorial Trophy” against Sri Lanka in 1973.

Throughout her tenure in the Indian Police Service, Kiran held several esteemed positions, including Chief of New Delhi Traffic Police and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in Mizoram. She also served as an advisor to the Lieutenant Governor. In 2015, Kiran ventured into politics by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), becoming an influential figure not only for women but also for men.
