These include the Dr. Rajkumar Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000, the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress – Kannada for her role in “Kannadada Kanda” in 2006, and an honorary doctorate from Tumkur University in 2008, recognizing her exceptional contributions to Southern cinema.

Her journey in the film industry started with smaller roles in movies like “Chanchala Kumari” and Shanker Singh’s “Naga Kannika.” Later, she became part of Mahalinga Bhagavathar’s Sri Sahitya Samrajya Drama Company. Moving to Mysore for her acting career, she found her breakthrough in the 1958 Kannada film “Bhakta Prahlada” alongside Rajkumar. Acting opportunities expanded with films like Mangalya Yoga, Dharma Vijaya, and Ranadheera Kanteerava.

Leelavathi showcased her versatility by taking on various roles.
