Starting his career as a child actor in the film ‘Naunihal’, which starred Sanjeev Kumar, Balraj Sahni, and Indrani Mukherjee, Mahmood Junior made his Bollywood debut in 1967. He appeared in the Hindi drama ‘Naunihal’, portraying the character of ‘Biloo.’ Throughout his career, Sayyed acted in 265 films across 7 different languages. He not only acted but also produced and directed 6 Marathi movies. His journey continued with roles in various films like the 1968 Hindi romantic drama ‘Suhaag Raat’, where he played ‘Banne.’ Later, in 1970, he appeared in the Hindi drama ‘Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani’, portraying ‘Gopi.’

However, on December 8, 2023, at the age of 67, he passed away due to stomach cancer. Just two weeks before his passing, news emerged that he was battling stage 4 cancer, and sadly, his condition deteriorated on the night before his demise, which occurred at his Mumbai residence.

His presence in the film industry was marked by numerous successful movies, including ‘Kati Patang’, ‘Mera Naam Joker’, ‘Parvarish’, and ‘Do Aur Do Paanch.’ Under the stage name Junior Mehmood, Naeem Sayyed left a notable imprint on the industry. In 1986, he appeared in the Hindi film ‘Sasti Dulhan Mahenga Dulha’, portraying ‘Patel.’ Additionally, in 2002, he played the role of a servant in the Hindi comedy ‘Chalo Ishq Ladaaye.’


Mehmood, who had been battling stomach cancer for a while, passed away in Mumbai on December 8, 2023.
