Neeraj Chopra was born in Khandra, Panipat, and Haryana. Neeraj comes from a family with two sisters, primarily engaged in agriculture. His fascination with javelin throwing began while watching a sports event at Panipat’s Shivaji Stadium. Even without formal training, he discovered his ability to throw a javelin over a distance of more than 40 meters. Neeraj completed his schooling at BVN Public School.
Career
Neeraj Chopra’s rise to prominence began at the national youth level, where he consistently dominated and even secured victories in international events. As a young boy, Neeraj faced teasing from local children due to his childhood obesity. In response, his father enrolled him in a gymnasium in Madlauda, and later, another gym in Panipat. However, his breakthrough moment came when he clinched the gold medal at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland, in 2016, achieving a record-breaking throw of 86.48 meters, which still stands in the under-20 category.
