Nithya Menen, born on April 8, 1988, in Bangalore, comes from a Malayali family settled in Karnataka. Her father is from Perambra in Kozhikode district, Kerala, and her mother is from Palakkad district, Kerala. She received her education at Poorna Prajna School and Mount Carmel College in Bangalore.
Initially, she aspired to become a journalist, but she later found journalism unappealing and decided to pursue filmmaking. She enrolled in a cinematography course at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. It was during the entrance exam for this school that she met B. V. Nandini Reddy, who convinced Nithya Menen to consider acting.
Career
Nithya Menen embarked on her acting career in 2006 with a supporting role in the Kannada film “7 O’ Clock.” She has been a seasoned actress since her childhood, starting at the age of eight. Her Malayalam debut in a leading role occurred in the 2008 off-beat film “Aakasha Gopuram,” directed by K. P. Kumaran, where she was paired with Mohanlal. Nithya Menen’s first appearance in an English movie was in “The Monkey Who Knew Too Much” (1998). Interestingly, she was in the midst of her 12th-grade exams when she received the role. Mohanlal discovered her on the front cover of a tourism magazine, Stark World Kerala, and offered her the role. In the film, she played the role of the younger sister to Tabu’s character. Although the film was not a commercial success, her performance was well-received by critics, who praised her debut and noted her impressive acting.
