From 2006 to 2011, he also served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Legislative Assembly. In recognition of his remarkable contributions, Oommen Chandy was bestowed with the award in Bahrain by Wu Hongbo, the then UN Under Secretary General for Economic and Social Affairs. His journey began as the unit president of KSU at St George High School, Puthupally, and eventually led him to become the State President of the organization. To further enhance his legal knowledge, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in law (LL.B) from the Government Law College in Ernakulam.
