Pragya was born into a prosperous Brahmin family in Lucknow. She has one sister, Kavya Mishra, who is married, and one brother. Pragya Mishra’s mother, Mrs. Rama Mishra, holds an M.Ed. degree in Sanskrit and serves as a Sanskrit lecturer at the Central Hindu School in Benaras. Pragya’s father, Satish Chandra Mishra, is a professional sitar artist and music teacher.

• In one of her Instagram posts, Pragati shared that when she was a child, she used to have a diary in which she used to stick pictures of her favourite actors from Bollywood. Before any movie release or big award night, she used to wait for the newspaper in the morning to pick the pictures of her favourites and diligently cut out the picture that inspired her.
• In an interview, Pragati revealed that after completing her 12th grade, she shifted to Mumbai to pursue journalism. She had plans of pursuing engineering but a friend of hers guided her to pursue journalism as she talks a lot. However, after a friend of hers suggested her to become a journalist as she talked a lot, she decided to pursue journalism. Becoming an actress was not her first choice. She never planned to become an actress but after working in an advertising agency for around a year, she developed an interest in acting and decided to pursue it as a career.
• When Pragati shifted to Mumbai, she lived in a 1BHK, where her landlady was a widow. She was sharing the flat with a family of three and a room with other two females.
• Before joining the film industry, she used to do theatre during her college days.
• In another interview, she shared that she comes from a place where houses are made of mud and no one can converse in English.
• When Pragati got the script o UP65, she saw that the entire script was written in Devanagari. Her sister visited her and helped her to understand the part of the script.  Her theatre background helped a lot to understand the character of the film in depth.  She even used to listen to the audible version of the UP65 novel before bedtime to keep the character close to her.

• After the release of UP65, Pragati received so much love from the public that she locked herself inside a room for some time.
