In the early 1990s, Dixit started the “Azadi Bachao Andolan” (Save Freedom Movement) to safeguard Indian industries. This happened when multinational companies were growing in India due to globalization. He worked closely with Ramdev and held a significant role as the national secretary in Ramdev’s anti-corruption group, Bharat Swabhiman Andolan. Throughout his activist career, Dixit pushed for changes in the Indian taxation system, believing that the current system led to corruption among bureaucrats. He was against globalization and supported using local products and methods. Dixit also stated that a large portion, 80 percent, of tax money was used to pay politicians and bureaucrats. He compared the present Indian government’s budget system to the one used during British rule in India. Moreover, he aimed to reform the education system in India.

Rajiv Dixit passed away on November 30, 2010, in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. There were different ideas about what happened, but the authorities said he died because of a heart problem. He had been with Daya Sagar, a local officer from Bharat Swabhiman Andolan, after giving a lecture in Bemetra. While on the way to Bhilai, he didn’t feel well. At Daya Sagar’s place, he fell in the bathroom. He didn’t want to see a doctor at first. Dixit, who worked with Baba Ramdev, died in uncertain circumstances, leading to many unanswered questions. After a call from Ramdev, he was taken to the Sector 9 Hospital in Bhilai and later to the BSR Apollo Hospital. According to Dr. Dilip Ratnani, he had a massive heart attack and passed away between 1 and 2 AM. His body was flown to Aligarh on December 1 without an autopsy.

In 2012, Ramdev said there were untrue attempts to blame him for Dixit’s death, asserting it was due to a heart problem. Dixit’s body was shown at Patanjali Yogapita and then cremated, with his brother Pradip Dixit and Baba Ramdev lighting the funeral pyre. Later, in 2019, the Prime Minister’s Office ordered an investigation into his death. Some followers think he was poisoned because of his stance against multinational companies, but there were also claims against Baba Ramdev, which Ramdev denied.
