Swami Vivekananda’s father, Vishwanath Datta, served as an attorney at the Calcutta High Court, while his mother, Bhuvaneshwari, possessed a devout and deeply spiritual nature that profoundly influenced her son.  His one brother and one sister. His grandfather, a scholar of Sanskrit and Persian, also played a significant role in his upbringing.

He came into this world on January 12, 1863, coinciding with the joyful celebration of Makar Sankranti. However, he has now departed from us. In India, his birth anniversary is commemorated as National Youth Day.

At the tender age of eight, in 1871, Narendranath took admitted at Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar’s Metropolitan Institution, where he pursued his education until his family relocated to Raipur in 1877. Throughout his college years, he amassed extensive knowledge across various disciplines. Additionally, he actively engaged in athletics, wrestling, gymnastics, and bodybuilding.

Swami Vivekananda Death

Swami Vivekananda had foretold that he would not live beyond the age of forty. On July 4, 1902, he carried out his usual activities at the Belur Math, imparting lessons on Sanskrit grammar to his students. In the evening, he retired to his room, and, around nine o’clock; he peacefully passed away while engrossed in meditation. It is believed that he attained ‘Mahasamadhi,’ a state of ultimate liberation.
